Almost finished clearing a densely thick stretch of fence line today. Heather worked her sexy farmer butt off. Her dad is a machine, too. Me… I fought a migraine and did the best I could. But the best part of the day? …Making out with my beautiful wife in the back pasture under a blue sky. A cold beer at the end of hot, hard day of work capped it off perfectly…!

Making delicious smelling fried chicken - a Lake Meadow Naturals broiler, thank you! - with lard, a little bacon grease, and Amish butter - again, thanks mostly to LMN. Some fresh green beans and gruyere/rosemary biscuits to round it out. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
Seriously. “Finding Bigfoot”? I’m a proud wearer of a tin-foil hat or two, but this show is so ridiculous. And shortening “Sasquatch” to “Squatch”? Eww. There’s something wrong about that word. Like, “shut your squatch-hole!”…
Oh well, whatever. Nevermind.

Nothing says “Hungover” like post Christmas cleanup. Not sure what I was thinking by: 1. Purchasing a satanic tree that dropped almost every one of its shrapnel-like needles, or 2. Running the vacuum cleaner for two hours straight to pick up said shards. But… the house is clean and ready for the New Year. Hello, 2012.

Smoked a brined ham steak this morning. Pulled it off the grill, pleased with the brown sugar, ground cloves, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg rub. I’ve made a marmalade, bacon fat, white wine reduction that it’s now slow cooking in, thinly sliced for maximum pulled pork platter creations. Happy New Year, friends and family!

Two whirlwind days in Jacksonville, followed by today in Tampa. Sometimes the best part of a job is the commute, especially when you’re listening to a great audiobook. I’ve almost finished Steve Jobs’ biography. I’m in the rougher parts now, reading about the cancer that took him. Makes for a thoughtful drive…

Well… Just when the week couldn’t suck ass anymore, I had to cull one of my flock this morning. Slaughtering an animal before coffee? Not fun… Will never buy this breed again. Much too fragile.
This has been a week of myriad frustrations. Friends, family, and work. Why can’t everyone behave the way *I* want them to?
